SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program) Counseling

Pat Walker from Portsmouth Multi-Purpose Senior Center, in partnership with Child and Family Services is available on the first Thursday of the month from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for one-on-one consultations.

SHIP counselors can discuss Medicare, Medicare Part D, supplemental insurance, Medicare Advantage plans, and other health insurance options. SHIP counselors assist beneficiaries in making the most appropriate choice for their health care needs.

The Rhode Island Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is part of a national partnership to help consumers make informed health-care choices. SHIP volunteers provide one-to-one, unbiased counseling to seniors, adults with disabilities, families and caregivers. The program is designed to help seniors and adults with disabilities understand health care costs and coverage. SHIP is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is sponsored in Rhode Island by the Division of Elderly Affairs.
